What is International Night?
ISA’s annual International Night is designed to facilitate understanding and appreciation of the cultural diversity at UH and in Hawai’i. The event will consist of live performances and culture booths from a variety of cultures. More pictures of International Night can be found here.
When and where is the event?
This event is held every year in mid-March. Every year, there is a different theme that surrounds the event. Last IN, the theme was Haku the Lei of the ‘Aina, held at the Halau o Haumea, Kamakakuokalani, Center for Hawaiian Studies.
This upcoming year, it will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 from 5:00-9:00pm (time subject to change) at the UH Manoa Campus Center Ballroom with the theme yet to be determined.
How big is this event?
Every year the number of participants we attract is growing, and in the previous years we have attracted 600+ people! This event is free and open to the public.
How do I apply to be a performer or have a cultural booth at the event?
Applications are now open! Please fill out our online application here. If you know anyone who may be interested, please spread the word! The deadline to apply is Saturday, February 4, 2017 by 11:59pm. After the application deadline, you will hear back from us if you have accepted no later than Thursday, February 9.
Who can apply?
All UHM students, organizations, faculty, staff, and the public are highly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to share their culture. This application is open to everyone to participate.
When are the Auditions?
Mandatory auditions will be held on UHM campus at Hemenway 201 or 208 for performers that have completed the application by the deadline. You may either attend the audition or submit a video of your performance for IN to email@example.com. If you intend to submit a video, the deadline is Tuesday, February 7th by 11:59pm or we may no longer consider your application.
Auditions will be on:
Monday January 30, 5:00-10:00pm
Friday February 3, 4:00-10:00pm
Saturday February 4, 12:00-6:00pm
Those who applied will receive an email to sign-up for audition dates and times. Please also return to our website for updates.
*** If selected, your performance at IN must be the same as your performance in your audition.***
Again, you will receive a response if you have been accepted after auditions by no later than Thursday, February 9th.
When is the Orientation session?
The IN Orientation date is set on Monday, February 13, 2017 from 5pm ~6pm on UH Manoa campus at the Campus Center Room 308.
Detailed information about the mandatory Orientation session will be emailed to all accepted performers and cultural booth participants.
When is the International Night Rehearsal?
There is a mandatory rehearsal for all performers on Friday, March 10th from 5:00-9:00pm (time subject to change) at the UH Manoa Campus Center Ballroom to practice a run-through of the event.
IN Co-chairs will forward specific times, locations, and instructions to the email address provided by the applicant. Check your emails regularly!
